Matthew Weissman, Ph.D.
During my 35 years as a licensed psychologist I have provided treatment and consultation at local hospitals, clinics, universities and independent schools. My current and most meaningful work has been providing intensive, longer-term psychotherapy in my private practice office.
I work with adults of all genders and orientations in individual and couples therapy, as well as offering group therapy and sex therapy for gay men.
I strive to provide a warm, upbeat environment for clients ready to explore their unique ways of working, forming relationships and caring for their own health and well-being.
I am especially interested in working with clients who are highly intelligent, creative and curious. I welcome those who have had prior experience in psychotherapy. There can be great value in returning to therapy after some years to reassess earlier life choices about career, family, or relationship style and make thoughtful course corrections well into adulthood.
I have a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and am licensed to practice psychology in the District of Columbia and in Maryland. I’m certified by the Psychology Interjurisdictional Compact (PSYPACT) which allows qualified psychologists to provide virtual psychotherapy in most of the 50 states. I am also a diplomate of the American Academy of Clinical Sexology with particular interest in gay identity formation and male sexual health.
I am not a participating provider with any insurance companies, but I will provide you with all necessary documentation if you choose to file a claim for reimbursement from your insurer or health saving account.
